Think about it: do you really need hand cream, foot cream, eye cream, body cream? One cream will do the job. And beyond that, you don't even need to buy a cream- you can use coconut oil or shea butter, and both of those can also be used as a lip balm, plus they are ingredients in a variety of other toiletries. So really, just buy a big jar of coconut oil or a tub of shea butter. I didn't include face cream in this list because I'm having such success with the "caveman" that I don't want to recommend anyone to put anything on their faces.
Seeing as I don't use shampoo and conditioner anymore, I have been using the leftovers as shaving cream. Yet another cream you don't need to buy. I honestly stopped using it years ago. Besides shampoo or conditioner, you could use coconut oil, any lotion, or liquid Castile soap mixed with a bit of water to shave with.
I made hair-removal wax from sugar, lemon juice and water. Easy peasy. I'm not going to eat the sugar ever again, so why not?
I use my bentonite clay toothpaste as a spot treatment for blackheads and it works! That's the only cheat I've done during this caveman experiment. One thing I've noticed doing the caveman is that there is a buildup of dead skin; I learned this when I tried to put foundation on for the first time. I decided against the makeup and haven't put it on since, but I do now rub my face gently with a dry towel or washcloth just to exfoliate. I only do that maybe once a week.
Basically, and this extends to many household items, if you just purchase raw ingredients and basic materials, you can use them in myriad ways and keep yourself and your home as non-toxic as possible. And it's of course good for your budget too. Stop paying Unilever in an effort to solve all your problems. They and other corporations like them are creating more problems than they fix.
